The District: Black Business Network Exchange

Networking is one of the main ingredients of success. I’m sure you’ve heard the quote, “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” Although earning a degree is extremely crucial in this day and age, having a strong community behind you is even more important, especially for African Americans.

In honor of Black History Month, business owners Ashlyn M. Mason of The Citizen Mix Brand and Avery H. Jones of AblazePR, LLC., have partnered to present The Black Business Network Exchange to be held this Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Bowie Library Auditorium, 15210 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715.

In an effort to educate and connect the African American professional, the event will not only delegate a time to shake hands and mingle with young and seasoned professionals and vendors, a panelist of CEO’s and Presidents of successful companies and projects will be discussing topics related to business development, the importance of supporting black owned businesses, innovation and other business related issues. The powerful panelists are as follows: Senior Producer and Emmy Winner, Don Napoleon of the Napoleon Project, President and Vice President, Michael and Sandra Grier of MOSAIC Technologies Group, Inc., President and CEO, Dr. Margaret Wood of Wood Consulting Services, Inc. and Cassandra Vincent of The Cassandra Brown Project.

“The Black Business Network Exchange is an entrepreneurial event designed to showcase numerous black-owned businesses and organizations throughout the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. area.”

Ladies, I can’t stress enough the importance of building a book of contacts. This event will allow you to meet others who are aspiring to be successful just like you and business professionals who can be a mentor or even your NEXT BOSS….hey, you never know.

Come prepared in business casual attire and with pen and paper. And it wouldn’t hurt to have your resume on standby, either. A prepared, well-dressed, articulate young woman is bound for success.

See ya there!

Xoxo, Nikki
